Edinburgh driving instructor

Robert – West Linton

Robert’s mum got in touch to organise lessons for him after I had been out driving with his two older brothers Richard and Jack. They live on a farm so probably have more driving experience than me, driving tractors and quads and pickups and combine harvesters. I knew that Robert wouldn’t take much to get into the swing of things especially as he already has a tractor licence and had been driving large tractor and trailers on the road since he was 16. We ventured into Edinburgh on our first outing looking at roundabouts and positions and signals which Robert managed to get the hang of really quickly. The manoeuvres we talked about what the driving examiner was looking for and ran through them which Robert could do no problem at all. Robert was coming to the end of his Christmas break from College and returned on the 16th of January after having four weeks off. We managed to get a driving test booked for the Sunday the 15th giving us one week to prepare everything. Both of Roberts brothers had passed their driving tests first time, so the pressure was on for us to try and keep this going. We did another practice and a mock driving test which was really helpful as it showed Robert exactly what to expect from the driving test. At the end of the week three days before Roberts test it started snowing,  I was worried that it was going to affect the driving test in Edinburgh. Luckily everything cleared up and by the time Sunday rolled in the snow had melted and was away. We headed into town for the test running through a few things for the last time. Robert set off on his test and I just had to wait for him to return to find out how he had got on. I was delighted to find that he managed to pass on his first attempt with only two driving faults. What a great way to end his Christmas holidays.
