edinburgh independent driving instructor

Sophie – Balerno Edinburgh

Sophie began driving lessons at the start of the summer I had had the pleasure of teaching Sophies older sister Hannah the year before so we knew that we needed to follow in her footsteps. During our first lesson, we ran through the basics and made sure Sophie understood how everything worked and then drove around the Balerno area of Edinburgh. Sophie did really well and managed to follow instructions really well. During our next few lessons, we ventured more into the Currie and Colinton area of Edinburgh. This presented more challenges, including roundabouts and the city bypass. Sophie managed to take this all in her stride and progressed very well during each driving lesson. Sophie had a busy summer with a family holiday and was also participating in the Duke of Edinburgh at school this meant we had to fit lessons into times when we were both free. This was also good as it varied the times of day that we were driving and also as we moved into the shorter days we managed to drive in the dark a little too. By October we had done a mock test, and Sophie had done really well so we decided that if we booked a test and focused on a final few details, we would be ready come test day. Sophie managed to book a test for the start of December. We continued practising, and Sophie also managed to go out with her mum and dad practising which was great as it sped things up. Before we knew it, December was here. I collected Sophie nice and early on the day of the test and in the hour before we managed to lap all around the Edinburgh area warming up with the manoeuvres and any tricky bits that I could think of. Sophie was naturally nervous, but I wasn’t as she had done so well in the last few weeks of driving lessons I had every confidence that she wouldn’t have any problems on the road. I was absolutely thrilled to find out that she had passed on her first attempt, managing to get it all done before her Christmas holidays. Well done Sophie.
