Jack Gray – West Linton
Jack’s mum was really organised and got in touch with me at the end of summer 2015 to arrange driving lessons for Jack starting at the end of January 2016. On our first driving lesson Jack did so well, he managed to take in everything we went through and apply the new skills when needed. Within 6 hours of driving Jack had covered everything that was going to be possibly asked of him during a driving test. Prelims were then happening at school so Jack focused on them and sitting his theory test, we resumed driving lessons at the end of February. Jack and his mum had also been out practicing regularly which was very noticeable as every time we went out Jack was even better. Jack managed to get a test booked in Edinburgh for the second week of March which was very exciting and we both felt that we would be more than ready for this with the small things that we needed to fix. The night before Jack’s driving test after a long day I was on my way home and stopped to fuel up my car this was at around 10:30pm. When pulling into the petrol station I could see in reflections that one of my headlight bulbs had blown on the car. I was going to be collecting Jack at 07:40am so knew that getting a bulb fitted before then would be very difficult. I was starting to panic a bit as I didn’t want to let anyone down, fortunately one of my friends pulled into the petrol station. Graham used to be a mechanic so had all the skills for this awkward bulb change, we stood on the petrol station forecourt for 20 minutes with a bulb bought from the petrol station and eventually Graham managed to get it fitted, what a relief! I collected Jack on the morning of the driving test we were all set, we left West Linton and headed into Edinburgh. Jack was extremely consistent now and just as I hoped he passed first time! Well done.
