Ross Hutcheson – West Linton
Ross got in touch at the beginning of summer, he had never driven before and was extremely keen to get going. On our first driving lesson we ran through the basics, taking a drive down to Penicuik going through junctions in small housing estates Ross coped extremely well. At the end of the driving lesson we discussed the options of learning to drive in Edinburgh or Peebles. The waiting list in Edinburgh is usually a lot smaller and I feel that learning to drive in Edinburgh sets you up for life as the majority of features on the road can be covered. Ross agreed so we started focusing our next driving lessons in Edinburgh, working our way through lots of different scenarios and problems. Ross always had questions which was great as this sped the learning up as you knew he was into what you were discussing. Ross was lucky enough to buy himself his own car at the start of the summer so once we had covered everything, we decided that Ross could do a lot of private practice with his mum to bring everything up to a consistent level. At the end of the summer Ross got in touch to say that he was feeling good. We resumed driving lessons again going out in Edinburgh to see how Ross had got on. I was very happy as he had managed to master so many things that we had talked about. Ross managed to get a driving test booked for the start of November in Edinburgh at the Currie driving test centre. I returned from holiday the day before Ross’ driving test so we were going to be going straight into it. Ross passed first time with only one driving fault! Well done Ross I will look out for you on the road.
