Rhian Pennie – West Linton
Rhian’s mum got in touch at the beginning of last year to organise driving lessons for Rhian’s seventeenth birthday, super organised which is always a great thing. We organised to go out on the day Rhian turned seventeen just to make the day even more exciting. Rhian did really well on her first driving lesson, we drove from West Linton down to Penicuik and then in and out of a selection of junctions that Penicuik had to offer, it was a bright summers evening so a really nice night to begin driving. As the summer went on Rhian progressed very well, we managed to work our way through all the things that she was going to get asked to do in a driving test. We now just needed to perfect them. Rhian had a very busy schedule in her final year at school so had to make driving lessons fit in around a number of school trips, sixth year events and of course revision for prelims. This didn’t seem to slow the progress of the driving down though. As the driving test date grew closer Rhian was very lucky as she had recently got her own car so had the option of carrying out practice with her mum in between driving lessons which meant that she could perfect the small things gaining confidence for the big day. On the day of the driving test Rhian left school to meet me outside after telling everyone that she had a “dentist appointment”. We drove around the Currie area of Edinburgh and managed to cover a little bit of everything. Rhian was really good with not very many mistakes happening. I was delighted to find out that when she arrived back that she had passed her driving test first time with only two driving faults! Rhian now has the freedom to enjoy her car and it will change her life in West Linton. Well done.
