learn to drive edinburgh

Passing his test just before graduation in Edinburgh.

Dylan got in touch about driving lessons while finishing his final year at Edinburgh University. He had already done some lessons with another instructor but wasn’t happy with the way things were progressing and decided a change was the right move. With a fairly flexible schedule, we arranged regular lessons and got started.

From the very first outing, it was clear Dylan had a solid base of driving skills we could build on. There were a few key areas that stood out for improvement, and with his positive attitude and focus, progress came quickly. Dylan was determined to make each lesson count, always asking questions and eager to refine his technique.

After just a few lessons, we were ready to run a mock driving test. He handled it really well—there were still one or two areas to tidy up, but overall, it showed he was very nearly ready. With university coming to an end, Dylan set himself the goal of completing both his degree and his driving test before graduation. He got to work checking for driving test cancellations, which can be tough to find in Edinburgh, but with persistence he secured a test slot for the final month of term—one last exam to wrap it all up!

On the morning of the test, I picked him up and we headed out to the Currie test area for one last run-through of everything. Dylan drove really well during the warm-up, showing confidence and control, and I felt sure he was ready. At the test centre, he met his examiner and headed off while I waited. Around 45 minutes later, he returned with fantastic news—he had passed on his first attempt!

A brilliant result, and what a way to end university—degree in hand and now a full UK driving licence too. Well done, Dylan!
