Karen – Oxgangs
Karen’s mum got in touch with me initially. She was looking for a driving instructor that covered the Oxgangs area of Edinburgh. Karen was working as a hairdresser so had Mondays off work each week. This was great for driving lessons as we could go out weekly. Karen was starting from the very beginning. We started in some of the housing estates around the Oxganags area to get to grips with the basic controls. Some of the estates in Oxgangas are pretty challenging with lots of parked cars and some horrible uphill junctions. Although it was hard Karen managed to get the hang of the clutch control and before we knew it we were looking for bigger challenges.
We progressed very steadily with driving lessons and then coronavirus hit the UK bringing driving lessons to a stop. When we resumed Karen was looking to book a theory test and with the coronavirus restrictions, this seemed really difficult to find a test that she could book and suited to her work schedule. We decided to stop driving lessons until Karen got the theory test done and out of the way.
A year went by and I was pleased to be contacted by Karen to say she had successfully sat and passed her theory test so it was now onto the driving test. We resumed driving lessons and Karen was lucky enough to get a driving test booked for a Friday morning first thing at 8am a few weeks away. This was great, it was going to give us enough time to perfect things and Karen could make it work with her work schedule.
After a few more weeks of perfecting the final details, we were finally ready to give the driving test a go. I was very confident that no matter where Karen was taken on her driving test that she was going to be okay. After starting early on Friday morning, we arrived and got parked up at the driving test centre and away Karen went to sit her driving test. I was delighted to hear upon Karen’s return that she had successfully passed on her first attempt. Well done, Karen is now free to come and go from Oxgangs whenever she wants.
