Duncan Jarvie – Macbiehill Scottish Borders
Duncan’s mum got in touch to book driving lessons for him at the end of last year. Duncan was very keen to learn to drive, and from day one was talking about how amazing it was going to be once he had his driving licence. For Duncan’s first driving lesson we did a 3 hour session which got us off to a flying start. We managed to cover all the basics including junctions, clutch control and using all the gears on the car. Duncan was at school in Edinburgh in his final year and having lived in Edinburgh up until not that long ago realised that once he had passed he would be free to come and go as much as he liked. Along with driving lessons Duncan managed to get insured on his dad’s car so he could practice and hopefully speed his learning up, the thing that was a bit different was that Duncan’s dad’s car was a Nissan Navara. With Duncan going to school in Edinburgh it meant that sometimes we could start his driving lesson in Edinburgh and finish back at Macbiehill afterwards, this was great as we were getting more time in and around the city. On the lead up to Duncan’s driving test his mum and dad managed to get a smaller car which was going to be perfect for Duncan to do final bits of practice in and fantastic for driving once he passed. Duncan had his driving test during his exam leave and in between studying was watching videos on my website and getting to go out driving with his mum and dad which was making a huge improvement between each driving lesson. On the day of the driving test we headed into Edinburgh and attempted to do one final practice of everything in preparation for his driving test. Duncan was nervous, but we discussed that this was only natural and that once he begun he would be brilliant. I was so delighted to hear the good news from the examiner that he had passed. This now gives Duncan the whole of the summer before heading away to Strathclyde university to study business in September. Well done.
