James Aitken – Edinburgh Driving Lessons
James’ mum got in touch about driving lessons for his seventeenth birthday. I had the pleasure of teaching James’ big sister Helen earlier on this year and her younger brother was desperate to get on the road soon. Living in Biggar the freedom a driving licence was going to provide was going to be life changing. I arranged to go out on James’ seventeenth birthday where we drove from West Linton down to Penicuik and back, in this time James managed to master starting and stopping and changing gears and basic junction skills which I was very impressed with. Week to week we went out, and after a few weeks James got to drive his mums car for extra practice which meant that progress was very fast. Not before long we were trying to work out a suitable time to sit the driving test. As the summer holidays began James had lots of things going on with involvement with his school concert, a trip of interrailing with a friend planned and commitments with the Edinburgh festival. We managed to find a date that suited us both at the end of August which meant we had a goal, as the test rolled in James was more than ready and managed to follow in his sister Helen’s footsteps passing first time! Well done.
