James – Morningside Edinburgh
James got in touch a few months ago about starting driving lessons. He had taken driving lessons in Edinburgh about five years ago with another Edinburgh driving instructor but never seen it right through to the end. James then started at university studying accountancy. After successfully passing his course he decided that it was time to begin driving lessons again and hopefully get his driving licence as soon as possible. It was great as James was free a lot during the week which meant that we got to practice in all sorts of traffic conditions and light levels. James seemed to still have the skills that he had learnt many years ago, so it was just a case of bringing everything together for him. We ran through everything over the first few driving lessons taking on a range of roads around Edinburgh. We were in the fortunate position as James had already passed his theory test so as soon as we felt ready, we would be able to book a driving test. We carried out a mock driving test which is always good as it gives both of us a real chance to see how James would cope on his own and under a little bit of pressure. I was impressed with how he did so we decided that we would try and look for a driving test over the next few weeks and keep practising in between. James logged on daily looking for cancellations. With James only working currently at the Weekends at Asda at the moment, this freed him up to select most driving test dates. He managed to find one that we were both free for so booked it. On the day of the driving test, James seemed very calm and ready which was great we did a quick warm up driving around Edinburgh throwing in a little bit of everything before finishing at the driving test centre ready for the test. James passed first time with only two faults which he knew about before the examiner explained them what a great result, well done James.
