Kate – Polwarth Edinburgh

Kate had never got round to learning to drive when she was 17 and with her job decided that driving would create so many opportunities. It would open up freedom and flexibility. She would no longer have to rely on bus timetables or lifts from friends.

Kate started driving lessons in the Polwarth area in Edinburgh and progressed very quickly, we started in the housing estate behind Napier university at Merchiston. This estate offers a lot of challenges with small uphill junctions which are perfect for mastering clutch control. Also, a lot of the junctions are blind which means that very fine control is required to ensure that you don’t make the car move further than you want.

It wasn’t long before Kate was taking on the bigger challenges Edinburgh has to offer like the Calder Road roundabouts and more. Progressing so much each time we went out driving, we got a date set for May and everything felt right.

When the test day came around I was feeling really confident with how consistent and competent Kate was with driving. Kate sat her driving test at the Currie centre in Edinburgh and passed first time. What a great result.
