Georgia – Peebles
Georgia got in touch about learning to drive after I had taught her older sister Bryony to drive. We started learning the basics in Peebles, but with the waiting list being so long we decided that going to Edinburgh would be better for finding a test date. We also discussed that the driving experience Georgia would gain driving around Edinburgh would be far greater than any challenges Peebles had to offer. We would meet in Penicuik in the afternoons as Georgia had a few days that she finished early from school so was free to go driving. Georgia took to the driving very quickly just like her sister had when she was learning. Once Georgia had her theory test done, it was time to get organised for the practical test which Georgia booked for the start of February. This was just after her prelims meaning that it gave her a chance to focus on one thing at a time. The week before Georgia’s driving test we did one last full practice which went really well. Georgia was getting very consistent with driving the car, and even in complicated situations was able to keep a thought through approach. On the day of Georgia’s driving test during the hour before her test, it started raining which we both discussed was better than low sun blinding your vision. Just before the test, the rain stopped, but the clouds remained to create great conditions for the test, not that we had any control over this. Georgia left the test centre; now I just had to wait to see how she was going to do. She was last back out of the three people that had left, and the two that had returned had both failed, so I was nervously waiting to see how she had got on. Georgia had passed first time with only one driving fault.
