Anna’s Journey to Driving Success in Edinburgh
Anna got in touch with me at the start of the summer, ready to embark on her driving journey. A couple of years earlier, I had taught Anna’s older sister, Cara, to drive, so it was a pleasure to now guide Anna towards achieving her own driving goals.
Before starting lessons, Anna had practised driving with her dad, which gave her a great foundation to build upon. Her enthusiasm and determination were evident during every lesson, making each session both productive and enjoyable. With her dad recently retired, he dedicated time to helping Anna practice in between lessons, and the improvement was remarkable.
At the start of every lesson, we reviewed her recent drives with her parents and tailored our lessons to address any challenges she encountered. Despite her busy schedule—including sixth-year studies, tennis coaching, and commitments with the Duke of Edinburgh scheme—Anna managed to stay consistent with her driving lessons.
With her theory test completed, we focused on fine-tuning her skills through mock driving tests. These highlighted areas for improvement, which Anna tackled with determination. Once we felt confident, Anna found a cancellation at the Currie test centre for early November.
Test day arrived with crisp winter skies and challenging low sun. After a solid final practice drive, Anna headed off with the examiner. When she returned, I was thrilled to hear she had passed her test with flying colours and even received compliments from the examiner.
Well done, Anna! You can now easily travel to your tennis coaching events and enjoy the freedom of driving around Edinburgh.
