How 7am lessons helped her build confidence on the road.
Caitie got in touch from the Juniper Green area of Edinburgh, looking to finally complete her journey to getting a driving licence. She had done some driving lessons a few years earlier but never made it to the test stage. With a full-time job during the day, we settled on early morning lessons from 7am to 9am before she started working from home — a great time slot that allowed us to get a lot done before the roads became too busy.
On our first lesson, it was clear Caitie already had some useful experience, and we quickly identified the areas that needed developing. She was always enthusiastic and very determined to perfect her driving, which made each lesson productive and enjoyable. It wasn’t long before we moved on to a mock driving test to see where we stood.
As is often the case, the first mock highlighted a few key areas for improvement. Caitie took everything on board, and more importantly, she understood what needed to change — and that’s often the hardest part. Over the next few weeks, we focused on targeted practice, building consistency and confidence. When we tried another mock driving test, the improvement was obvious. Caitie had a clear plan, stayed composed, and drove with much more confidence.
With things coming together nicely, Caitie began searching for a driving test. As cancellations are hard to come by in Edinburgh, it was a relief when she found a suitable slot at the Currie test centre that worked for both of us.
On the day of her test, I picked her up first thing for one final warm-up drive. Caitie handled it all well, and I felt confident as we arrived at the test centre. She was met by her examiner and off they went. About 45 minutes later, Caitie returned — and the examiner confirmed she had passed on her first attempt!
A fantastic result, and well-earned after weeks of focus and consistent effort. Well done, Caitie!
