How structured lessons and extra practice led to success in The Grange Edinburgh
Clarissa’s driving journey began years ago when she first started lessons in London, but like many others, her progress was interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Fast forward to 2024, and after relocating back to Edinburgh, she decided it was time to finally get her licence.
Living in the Grange area, her first lessons focused on refining her clutch control and adjusting to the new car. With a determined and positive attitude, Clarissa quickly progressed to tackling the busier roads of Morningside—an area packed with challenges and real-world driving scenarios.
As she gained confidence, we worked through various driving techniques, including navigating complex junctions and handling different road conditions. To reinforce her learning, Clarissa made great use of my YouTube driving videos, allowing her to revise key areas in her own time.
To assess her readiness, we conducted a mock driving test. This helped highlight areas for improvement, which Clarissa took on board with enthusiasm. With her test already booked, she committed to extra practice by getting insured on her husband’s car and going out with family and friends. This additional experience made a huge difference, giving her the confidence to tackle any situation on the road.
Finally, the big day arrived. After a solid final practice session, we arrived at the Currie test centre, and Clarissa set off with the examiner. Forty-five minutes later, she returned with the fantastic news—she had passed her driving test on her first attempt with flying colours! The examiner had no concerns, and she had delivered a calm and controlled drive.
Well done, Clarissa! Now she can enjoy the freedom of driving around Edinburgh and beyond whenever she pleases. 🚗✨
