Adam – West Linton
Having successfully taught his sisters, Lucy and Zoe, over the past few years, it was now Adam’s turn to take the wheel and see if he could pass his driving test on his first attempt, just like his siblings.
Adam’s mother arranged for us to begin his driving lessons shortly after his 17th birthday. During our first lesson, we went over the basics of driving controls and took a drive down to Penicuik, which was a short distance away from West Linton. We covered various topics such as how the gears worked, mirror checks, and starting and stopping. Once we arrived in Penicuik, we went over turning left and right at junctions and going in and out, showing Adam everything he needed to know.
With Adam’s school schedule, we were able to schedule his driving lessons on Monday mornings before he started his classes, which quickly became a regular time slot for us to practice. After a few weeks, Adam was making great progress, and we soon covered everything we needed to in preparation for his driving test.
Our focus then turned to perfecting everything and ensuring Adam’s consistency level was high enough. We carried out a mock driving test, which went well, but we encountered a few issues that we needed to address to ensure consistency for Adam’s driving test. Adam was fortunate enough to purchase a car, allowing him to practice in between driving lessons, which helped him perfect his skills and build confidence in driving another vehicle.
After successfully passing his theory test, Adam managed to secure a driving test in Edinburgh for mid-February, which gave us an excellent timeline to prepare for his test. In the run-up to his driving test, we carried out a few more mock driving tests that continued to get better and more consistent.
On the day of Adam’s driving test, I was extremely confident that he was well-prepared, and that the driving examiner would have no problems with him. True to form, Adam passed his test on his first attempt, matching the level of his two sisters, which was undoubtedly a significant achievement for him. Congratulations, Adam, you are now free to come and go from West Linton whenever you want.
