Lewys Thomas – Marchmont Edinburgh
Lewys got in touch explaining that he was up studying at Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh and wanting to learn to drive for this summer. We started with a very unusual lesson as Lewys wanted to leave his flat in Marchmont and drive to Heriot Watt university in his first driving lesson. I had one hour to explain how the car worked and set Lewys up driving, knowing that we would have to face a number of junctions, roundabouts and traffic lights on route from Marchmont across Edinburgh. So my plan was I drove the first ten minutes and as driving explained everything I could about the three pedals right up to the mirrors. Lewys took over at the bottom of Lanark road and his journey began! After surviving the first driving lesson which I was very impressed with we used the Marchmont area of Edinburgh to perfect and fine tune the driving. Not before to long Lewys had completed what I would call the full driving syllabus, taking on everything Edinburgh has to offer from Calder road to the Bypass and driving through Morningside in rush hour traffic. Lewys always had questions which meant he progressed rapidly. After twelve hours of driving lessons Lewys was ready to sit his driving test. Which he excelled in, passing first time at the Currie test centre in Edinburgh with only three driving faults!
