Billy – Penicuik Midlothian
Billy got in touch at the start of this year he was looking to begin driving lessons in Penicuik with the hope of passing his driving test by the end of this year, at the time I was really busy but he said he was happy to wait as he would like me to be his driving instructor. On our first driving lesson which was mid summer Billy explained he had done a lot of driving with his dad and that in the past had had a driving instructor so we got straight into it. Billy had a lot of skills in driving and just needed to build up a little more confidence with things. After going out a few times Billy and I covered bigger roundabouts and other big features Edinburgh has to offer like the Edinburgh city bypass. Billy was doing really well and in between driving lessons he was practicing with his dad driving around Penicuik fine tuning areas that we had been working on. We tried a mock driving test and I was impressed by how Billy managed but he told me that he was still feeling very nervous under test conditions. I discussed with him that this is pretty normal but it would be good if we could get rid of as many nerves as possible so that nothing would stand in our way on the day of the driving test. A few more weeks went by and we decided it was time to line up Billy’s driving test which he booked for the start of October. On the day of the test I collected BIlly and although it was dry in Penicuik the sky was dark with a strong possibility of rain. As we drove from Penicuik into Edinburgh we discussed how the rain would affect things such as following distances and things but I was hoping that it stayed off as it would be one less thing to worry about during Billy’s driving test. Luckily nothing much came of it we had slight drizzle but nothing that stopped BIlly passing his driving test with a glowing report from the examiner. I was so happy as Billy had worked so hard fixing any mistakes and I knew he could do it. This now free’s Billy up to drive to and from Penicuik as much as he likes. Well done.
