Ama – Buckstone Edinburgh
Ama reached out to me expressing interest in taking driving lessons after hearing about her friend Chloe’s driving instructor who was me. A resident of the Buckstone area in Edinburgh, Ama was in the perfect location for me to provide assistance.
Her school schedule afforded her the flexibility to be available on Tuesday mornings, and I was fortunate enough to have an opening at that time when she contacted me. We began our lessons bright and early at 7am, working until 9am. This schedule allowed us to experience light traffic at the start of our lessons, gradually increasing in volume as the day progressed.
In our initial session, we traversed the route that leads over the Braid Hills. Given that Ama had never driven before, I went over the basics with her, including the various controls, using mirrors, and gear shifting. We practised starting and stopping and honed foundational skills before moving on to other areas of focus.
Ama was eager to learn and determined in her approach, allowing us to quickly progress through various parts of Southside Edinburgh, navigating roundabouts and junctions with ease. Her practice with her mother in between lessons further facilitated her progress, and I noticed significant improvements each time we met.
As we approached her mock test, we focused on areas that needed improvement and prepared ourselves for any potential roadblocks. After the Christmas holidays, Ama had progressed considerably, leading us to schedule her driving test for mid-February, providing enough time to ensure she was fully prepared.
During the week leading up to the test, Ama had some extra time to practice with her mother and perfect any remaining skills. On the day of the test, I picked her up and drove her to the test centre, giving her time to practice on the way. I was thrilled to learn that Ama passed her driving test on her first attempt, without any significant difficulties.
Well done, Ama!
