Combining private practice and professional guidance for driving success
Rhiannon from the Colinton area of Edinburgh got in touch about lessons after doing regular driving with her mum. With a driving test already booked for July, we met for an initial lesson at the end of March to see how things were shaping up. Right away, it was clear Rhiannon was extremely competent — she had a great foundation to build on.
Over the next few weeks, we worked on tightening up a few details before attempting a mock test. That mock highlighted that clutch control, especially in slower manoeuvres, was the one key area that would make a big difference. Rhiannon took this on board and responded brilliantly. With everything in place, we started checking for an earlier test date — although like so many others in the UK at the moment, there was nothing available.
We paused lessons while she continued to practise with her mum, and when July approached, we picked things up again and built up some pre-test momentum. This was a big moment for Rhiannon — not just because of the difficulty of getting a driving test, but also because she was right in the middle of switching jobs, where having a licence would be a game-changer for commuting.
On the day of the test at Currie, I collected her and we went out for a final drive to warm up. After parking up and waiting nervously, I was thrilled to hear that Rhiannon had passed with just two faults. She brought everything together and nailed it when it counted. Congratulations, Rhiannon — well deserved!
