driving lessons in the colinton area

Prepared, confident, and composed

Megan got in touch about starting driving lessons last year, following in the footsteps of her older brother and sister, both of whom I had previously taught to drive. It was now Megan’s turn to work towards her own driving licence.

We began with the basics, giving Megan time to get used to my car and focusing on starting, stopping, and developing strong clutch control. After just a few lessons, Megan was progressing well and had a clear understanding of what she needed to improve.

One thing that made a huge difference was the extra practice Megan did outside of lessons in her own car with her mum and dad. Each time we went out, her driving felt more natural, confident, and controlled, with everything starting to come together nicely.

Over the summer, Megan had a few commitments during the school holidays, so lessons were spaced out a little more than usual. Despite this, her progress remained steady, and nothing slipped back. As the end of the year approached, we began carrying out mock driving tests, helping Megan get used to test conditions and fine-tune any areas where she wanted a clearer plan.

With the current situation around driving test availability being particularly challenging, Megan stayed organised and secured a test date for the start of 2026. Before we knew it, the new year arrived and test day was here.

We went out for one final warm-up drive before heading to the Currie test centre in Edinburgh, covering a bit of everything. Megan drove well and looked ready. After parking up and heading inside, I watched as Megan left with her examiner and waited for her return.

I was delighted to hear that Megan had passed her driving test on her first attempt, following in the footsteps of her brother and sister. A fantastic result.

Well done, Megan — you can now come and go from Colinton whenever you like 🚗
