Securing a cancellation and nailing the test—all before leaving town.
Mia got in touch in September 2024, ready to begin her driving journey. Having never driven before, we headed to the Braids area in Edinburgh for her first lesson—an ideal location to start learning the basics. Mia quickly grasped the fundamentals and even drove back to her flat by the end of that very first session, a clear sign of her fast learning and calm confidence.
With a flexible university schedule, Mia slotted in regular weekly lessons and progressed steadily through the full driving syllabus. From clutch control to manoeuvres and navigating the unique challenges Edinburgh offers, she took everything in stride. When we moved on to mock driving tests, Mia performed better than average, which provided a great benchmark to fine-tune her skills further.
After passing her theory test, Mia focused on the next hurdle: booking the practical. With test waiting times in Edinburgh at an all-time high, securing a date was no easy task—but she persevered, checking regularly and using test-cancellation apps until she successfully landed a midday test slot at the Currie centre.
On the day, I collected Mia from her flat and we did one last drive around the Currie test area. Her driving was smooth and composed, and I felt very confident. After heading out with the examiner, Mia returned with excellent news—she had passed her test and was even complimented on the quality of her drive.
The timing couldn’t have been better: with university exams complete and a trip away planned for the following week, Mia now has her driving licence and the freedom that comes with it. Well done, Mia!
