Jenny Macfarlane – Balerno Edinburgh
Jenny got in touch about starting driving lessons at the end of the summer holidays. I had had the pleasure of being the driving instructor for Jenny’s older sister Emma to drive at the end of last summer. Emma managed to pass first time in Edinburgh, so the pressure was on for both Jenny and myself to hopefully follow in her big sister’s footsteps! Jenny did really well on her first driving lesson we drove from Balerno on the outskirts of Edinburgh, down and into the Currie area where we looped through both uphill and downhill junctions. Jenny did really well in getting to grips with the clutch and not before to long was managing to deal with some very challenging uphill junctions which some people would take many driving lessons to master. In Between driving lessons Jenny was lucky enough to have access to her mum’s car for extra practice so this meant she could consolidate anything we had done during driving lessons. As lessons we progressed we drove deeper into Edinburgh to face as many challenges as we could and Jenny was very fast to adapt and take on board any changes that different situations may present. Jenny managed to get her driving theory test done and out the way in October, freeing us up to get the driving test booked and hopefully out the way before christmas. Jenny had some free time at school at lunchtimes which meant we could continue driving practice with plenty of daylight, and not in rush hour traffic meaning we could get a lot done on each driving lesson. We were all set, on the day of the driving test I collected Jenny from her school where she had managed to leave without drawing attention to her friends what she was away to do. Jenny’s mum arrived down at her school just before we left, as Jenny had decided that she wanted some other shoes for sitting her driving test. So with the correct footwear we left Balerno high school and headed out for a quick warm up before sitting the test. When the driving examiner came out they were accompanied by a senior examiner who was there to asses the first driving examiner, as if sitting your driving test isn’t nerve wracking enough but two examiners. Jenny left the test the Currie test centre in Edinburgh and came back to be told that she had passed delivering a great drive! Well done Jenny.
