Izzy – West Linton
Izzy started driving lessons while in her fifth year at school. She had a busy schedule with school and other commitments which involved flying gliders. We found a time on a Tuesday morning that we could both go out driving before Izzy’s school started.
On our first driving lesson, we started in West Linton on the moor road heading down to Penicuik. We went over the basic controls and explained how everything worked Izzy did well taking on the new challenge and was determined to perfect the skills.
In between driving lessons, Izzy was lucky enough to go practising with her mum which was a great help in bringing things together. Izzy often got to drive between West Linton and Kirknewton where she flew gliders most weekends. This was a great route as between West Linton and Kirknewton is the driving test area Izzy was going to be sitting her driving test in.
As school exam leave began Izzy had a little more free time which meant we could go out driving at a range of times this was great as it exposed Izzy to lots of other types of traffic.
After successfully sitting and passing her theory test we just needed to get a few final bits of driving fine-tuned before sitting the practical test. We did this with a combination of mock tests and trying to home in on the known faults.
Izzy managed to find a driving test cancellation for early June, We carried out one final practice which went well and then it was time to see if Izzy could deliver. I was delighted when Izzy returned to find that she had passed her driving test on her first attempt in Edinburgh at the Currie test centre. Izzy is now free to come and go from West Linton whenever she likes. Well done Izzy.
