Eilidh – West Linton
Eilidh got in touch with me at the end of last year about starting driving lessons at the beginning of this year. Eilidh had been taking regular driving lessons in Edinburgh and had covered everything but before passing her driving test had moved house to West Linton and her driving instructor didn’t cover the area. So our aim when starting was to continue what Eilidh had learnt and keep momentum all the way through to the driving test. This sounded good to me, there was also one other thing to add, Eilidh was heavily pregnant and was due to have her baby a few months after we started. Nothing was going to stop us though. Together worked hard during driving lessons and brought skills Eilidh had found tough up to a high level. Eilidh then had a few weeks off when she had her baby but was enthusiastic and very keen to get back to driving lessons. Each lesson we looked at slightly different things, Eilidh was also doing a lot of practice with her husband Andy which made noticeable improvements week to week. We had covered everything but found that when we carried out a mock test the Eilidh felt the pressure and her performance dropped. We discussed it and decided that we needed to continue driving practice and start carrying out regular mock tests, so they became routine. After a few more weeks we tried again, this time there was a noticeable improvement. As the year flew by we were under a bit of pressure as Eilidh was going to be returning to work at the start of 2017 and driving to and from work was going to make such a difference. Eilidh managed to find a driving test for the Sunday before Christmas this was our shot. We did a quick warm-up on the day and Eilidh although telling me that she felt nervous drove incredibly well. Now all she had to do was do the same with the driving examiner. I waited at the test centre knowing Eilidh could do it. I was delighted to find out upon her return that she had passed! I think this will be better than any Christmas present she will receive this year. Well done good luck returning to work I will no doubt pass you on the road soon.
