Gary Neil – Penicuik Midlothian
Gary got in touch about doing driving lessons, living in Penicuik he knew that learning to drive would open up lots of doors and make traveling around with his wife and children a lot easier. Gary traveled from Penicuik into Edinburgh each day for work and occasionally had to travel through to Livingstone also this made the journey time between Edinburgh and Penicuik around about one to one and a half hours. Gary was also going to get access at work to a vehicle which was big motivation for him at the time. We started mastering the basic skills of driving around the Penicuik housing estates talking about going in and out of junctions. Not before too long it was time to see what the rest of Midlothian had to offer so we headed down into Roslin and Bilston using our new skills to negotiate their housing estates. Gary and I decided that we would sit the driving test at the Currie test centre in Edinburgh, one of the great things about this area was that Gary as a passenger at work often traveled through parts of the test route so could pay attention when going through the area. When test day came Gary was nervous but I assured him that he could do it and that he did passing becoming the first person in his family to drive. I’m sure his wife had an a list of trips to take once he got set up with his own car. Well done.
