Ben – Fairlmilehead
Ben’s dad got in touch about driving lessons after I had taught his stepdaughter to drive last year. Ben had already done a little bit of driving with his dad but was looking to really build on things and then hopefully perfect the details with his dad.
Currently studying at university in Edinburgh Ben was pretty flexible in when he could carry out driving lessons which really helped us go out at a wide range of times. I always find this helps people get to grips with the variety of traffic situations different times of day bring.
It didn’t take long for us to cover most things during our driving lessons, the great thing about learning to drive in Edinburgh is there is normally a wide range of things to practice, perfect and master. Ben was always enthusiastic and determined to improve.
We would discuss at the end of the driving lesson what we should include in the following lesson, this helped with progress and Ben’s confidence behind the wheel. After a few months of us going out weekly and Ben’s dad going out most weekends, things started to come together.
After successfully sitting and passing his theory test it was time for Ben to book a driving test, he managed to get a driving test cancellation for a few weeks time, we discussed that we could put driving lessons on hold for a few weeks and then resume nearer the date of Ben’s test. We did this. Resuming just 2 weeks before Ben’s test we set to fine-tune the final details, Ben did well and on the week of his test drove really well.
I was really confident everything was ready to go. On the day of Ben’s driving test, I collected him early in the morning and we set off for one last drive which he did really well. It was all looking good. I wasn’t wrong. Ben passed his driving test on his first attempt in Edinburgh at the Currie test centre. Well done Ben
