Caitlin – Bruntsfield Edinburgh
Caitlin had carried out driving lessons when she first turned seventeen but really didn’t like her driving instructor so eventually stopped and couldn’t face finding a new instructor straight away. Caitlin then came to study in Edinburgh at Edinburgh University. As she progressed through her degree Caitlin decided that having a driving licence at the end would be very useful and open up lots of opportunities for her. Looking back on the previous experience she had she spoke to some of her friends and one of them Molly who I had just taught suggested she should try going out with me. We went at Caitlin’s pace and she had lots of skills already that she didn’t fully believe she had we just needed to get her to recall them. After a few times of going out, Caitlin was driving through a range of different features Edinburgh has to offer. Cailin was in her final year at university while doing this so had a busy schedule in between lessons but managed to find time to keep up regular lessons. We were really building momentum and after passing her theory test Caitlin lined up her driving test for after her dissertation hand in date and before her exams. This was really exciting as it gave us a goal to aim for. On the lead-up Caitlin felt that she would like to do a little more driving practice on roundabouts as some of the Edinburgh driving test routes feature a large number of them. After looping around most of the roundabouts on that side of Edinburgh Caitlin was feeling prepared for whatever the examiner had in store for her. We turned up for Cailins test confident and ready to show the examiner what she could do. Caitlin did really well passing on her first attempt setting herself up with her driving licence for finishing university!
