Cat Struthers – West Linton
Cat started driving lessons at the end of 2015, she had a lot of basic skills as she had grown up on a farm and had had the opportunity to drive in fields. This meant Cat had practiced hill starts and manoeuvres before. On our first driving lesson we met after Cat finished school in Edinburgh and had the challenge of gaining enough skills in the first hour to be able to drive from the Edinburgh to Cat’s house in West Linton. This would involve junctions, traffic lights roundabouts and everything else Edinburgh had to offer. This was going to be a challenging first driving lesson but hopefully help us progress fairly quickly. Cat was in sixth year at school and had a bit of free time on some mornings so we managed to fit a lot of our driving lessons starting in West Linton and then finishing in Edinburgh. As we progressed during driving lessons Cat was really lucky that her mum and dad managed to get a small car so Cat could continue what we had been practicing. This really built the momentum and not before long Cat was ready to give a mock driving test a go. Cat did well, we had a few small issues but most people do all we needed now was Cat to get her theory test out the way and then we could line up a driving test for her. We stopped doing driving lessons until Cat passed and decided we would come up with a plan once the theory was passed. When Cat passed the next step happened very quickly luckily Cat found a cancellation for a driving test in Edinburgh for 1 weeks time. We managed to fit one more lesson in just to fine tune some things and then went for it. Cat did so well passing first time being told by the examiner that if she keeps that standard of driving up she had nothing to worry about. Well done Cat
