Driving Lessons in Marchmont Edinburgh

How focused weekly plans and mock tests led to a clean sheet at Currie.

Rosa got in touch at the end of 2024 to start driving lessons. A student living in the Marchmont area of Edinburgh (with a few lessons previously in Elgin), she began in December before heading home for Christmas. Marchmont proved ideal: plenty of local challenges and quick access to the Currie test area.

Building on Rosa’s previous experience, we quickly established her level and set a clear plan for fast, targeted progress. Rosa was always enthusiastic and determined to refine the details. We met weekly, agreeing a focus for each session so we could keep moving forward.

Before long, we’d covered the full syllabus and moved on to a mock driving test. The first mock highlighted a few items to polish—pretty typical—but overall things were moving the right way. After a little extra practice, the second mock showed everything beginning to click.

By February/March Rosa was ready—but finding a test was another story. With the UK backlog at its worst, she couldn’t secure a date until August. We paused lessons in March, then restarted a few weeks before the test to rebuild rhythm and confidence. Rosa settled straight back in.

On test day, I collected her for a warm-up around Currie. She drove calmly and precisely. After I watched her head off with the examiner, she returned about 45 minutes later with brilliant news: a first-time pass with zero faults at the Currie test centre. A spotless drive—well done, Rosa!
