Starting from scratch and finishing strong before university
Hannah, from the Greenbank area of Edinburgh, started driving lessons with me from the very beginning. Right from the first session, it was clear she was a fast learner—enthusiastic, focused, and determined to make solid progress.
We drove together weekly and steadily built up her skills. Alongside lessons, Hannah also practised regularly with her dad in their family car. The only catch? It was an automatic, whereas my car was manual. Despite that, I was genuinely impressed at how easily she switched between the two—adapting without fuss and continuing to improve in both.
With university starting in September, it became a priority to find a driving test that worked around her timeline. After preparing well with mock tests and fine-tuning everything, Hannah was ready—she just needed the test date.
After downloading a browser extension to help her find a cancellation, she managed to grab a slot for the start of August. A few days before the big day, we went out for a final tune-up lesson—and she absolutely nailed it. On the day of her test at Currie, Hannah passed on her first attempt.
She’s now fully qualified to drive both automatic and manual cars—and just in time for university. A brilliant result, well earned. Well done Hannah!
