Mia – Morningside
Mia’s mother reached out to me with an interest in arranging driving lessons for her daughter, Mia. During our conversation, Mia’s mother shared that they had initially attempted to start Mia’s driving journey a few years ago. Unfortunately, their efforts coincided with the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, which significantly disrupted their plans. Despite Mia’s enthusiasm for learning to drive, the challenging circumstances at that time posed considerable obstacles.
Our inaugural driving lesson took place in a nearby estate adjacent to Morningside. Mia had already gained some exposure to driving under her father’s guidance on a few occasions, allowing her to acquire a basic understanding of vehicle control. During our session, we further developed these foundational skills, focusing on navigating junctions. Mia demonstrated remarkable progress in grasping clutch control, culminating in her impressive feat of driving back to her residence in Morningside by the end of the lesson.
Over the subsequent weeks, as we continued to meet regularly and lay down the groundwork of driving principles, Mia began practising her driving skills with her mother between formal lessons. This transition was notably impactful, as Mia’s demeanour behind the wheel became increasingly natural and poised.
Throughout our lessons, a diligent approach was maintained, with each session meticulously planned to target specific learning objectives and areas of refinement. Progress was swift, leading us to a juncture where a simulated driving test was conducted. Mia exhibited commendable performance during the mock test, although certain aspects necessitated fine-tuning. Remaining dedicated to our goals, we progressively addressed these finer points, ultimately paving the way for Mia to schedule an official driving test in the ensuing weeks.
As the day of the driving test arrived, my confidence in Mia’s abilities was unwavering. After a final practice drive, we arrived at the test centre, where Mia embarked on her test accompanied by an examiner. The ensuing moments were ones of anticipation for me. To my elation, Mia returned triumphant, having successfully passed her driving test on her inaugural attempt. A heartfelt congratulations are due to Mia for her remarkable achievement. She is now empowered to navigate the roads of Morningside with confidence and skill.
