penicuik driving instructors

Nathan – Penicuik Midlothian

The pressure was on for me as a driving instructor, over the years I have taught a few of Nathans’s family and they have all been successful in passing their driving tests on the first attempt. It was now time to see if Nathan could also follow in the footsteps of his sister and uncle. On our first driving lesson we built on the skills Nathan already had from going out with his auntie. We went just outside Penicuik to the moor road that leads to West Linton. This was a great road to start on as we could really perfect starting, stopping, changing gears and actually at points have a little bit of speed. After looping away out on the backroads we circled back to Penicuik.

We arranged to go out the next week where we really got to work gaining the fine control of the car. Nathan was getting to practice between driving lessons each week which was helping with everything. After getting to grips with the majority of things Penicuik had to offer started to head into Edinburgh to find bigger challenges.

Nathan progressed quickly, he did well adjusting things and was great at asking questions to make sure that he had a full understanding of whatever it was that we were perfecting.

After Nathan had passed his theory test we were fast moving towards him sitting his driving test, this was going to make a big difference as Nathan currently was travelling from Penicuik to the other side of Edinburgh for college and also football. Having a driving licence was going to mean Nathan could come and go from Penicuik without relying on lifts or buses.

Nathan managed to find and book a test for 8 am on a Monday morning. I collected Nathan first thing in the morning at 0630am from his house in Penicuik, we headed into Edinburgh in the dark for our last practice. We quickly ran through each manoeuvre one last time and then looked at how the bus lanes would affect things being in action before arriving at the test centre.

I watched Nathan leave the test centre with the examiner and saw my car pull out of the junction and disappear out of the housing estate. I now just waited for his return and to hear how it had gone. I was delighted to find out that when he returned he had passed his driving test on his first attempt. This now gives Nathan the freedom to leave Penicuik as much as he likes. Well done.
